Lost a tree that mattered? We pick up the logs, mill and dry the wood, and craft furniture that keeps its story in your family, your school or your town.
Why it matters
Most city trees end up as mulch
Most grand, historic trees are relegated to the landfill, ground into mulch or chopped into firewood. We extend the life left in them, and every piece comes with a birth certificate describing the tree’s origin, significance and story.

The process
Five steps from log to heirloom

STEP 01
Consultation
We talk through your tree and what you’d love it to become. When possible we salvage twice the wood needed, to allow for drying and give you more slabs to choose from. Send photos and the trunk diameter at chest height.

STEP 02
Log pick-up
If your arborist can deliver the logs to our mill, that’s easiest. If not, we’ll arrange a log truck to pick up the wood.

STEP 03
Milling & drying
Within 4 weeks of pick-up we mill your logs and send a photo inventory. Slabs cure for 8–12 months, then we kiln dry them.

STEP 04
Design & fabrication
After a detailed conversation we send a sketch for approval, before the wood is cured, so building starts as soon as it leaves the kiln.

Delivery & installation
We coordinate delivery, installation and final assembly, and every piece that leaves our shop carries a full warranty.

What do you need to know about my tree?
Photos of the tree and the diameter of the trunk at chest height are the two most helpful things to have before we talk. Where the tree is and what you imagine it becoming help too.
How much wood should we salvage?
When possible we salvage twice the wood that is needed. That allows for degradation during drying and waste during fabrication, and gives you more slabs and lumber to choose from.
How do the logs get to your mill?
If your arborist can deliver the logs to our mill in Hamden, that is easiest. If not, we’ll arrange a log truck to pick up the wood.
How long does the whole process take?
We mill your logs within 4 weeks of pick-up and send a photo inventory. Slabs usually cure for 8–12 months before kiln drying, and we approve designs before the wood is cured so fabrication can start right after.
Is my finished piece guaranteed?
Yes. We stand by our design and craftsmanship and offer a full warranty for every piece that leaves our shop.
